Caregiving Techniques: Slide Sheet + Sly Speaks: Devalued Professions

SMART Slide Sheets, Patient Not Able to Assist

This series of videos from MedCo Technology is helpful for both professional and home caregivers. They offer techniques to minimize the likelihood of injury to the caregiver.
Most injuries in both institutional and home settings happen because the caregiver is rushed. Institutional settings, particularly long-term care facilities, are often understaffed. Many times at-home caregivers are without help and may be caring for other children if the handicapped loved one is a child, or for children as well as an aging parent.
Caregiving tends to be a profession/skill which is devalued. It is seen as something which uneducated people do, and tends to be seen as a “woman’s profession.” “Women’s professions” tend to be paid less well than so-called “men’s professions.”
Modern society will remain mired in misery until people in all walks of life and in the devalued helping professions and situations are seen as worthwhile, contributing members of society, which they, in fact, are.

Trump Hates the American Public — Here's How He Reveals His Disdain @alternet

Trump Hates the American Public — Here's How He Reveals His Disdain @alternet: He has a billionaire's antipathy for the general good. Donald Trump hates you. But don't take it personally, he hates me, too -- and all of us who constitute The Public. The billionaire's antipathy is not directed at us as individuals, but as users of publicly provided services -- such as schools, parks, health care, buses, collective bargaining, libraries and environmental protections. From his privileged perspective, all of that is welfare, nothing but an expensive waste that puts burdensome taxes and annoying regulatory constraints on the entrepreneurial creative class, i.e., him.

OctPoWriMo 2018: Day 13: National Disgrace

Being kind is
What everyone should do
Do you?
You do not
Not do right
Right is might
Might you consider
Consider the absolute
Absolute power
Power corrupts
Corrupts when misused
Misused to abuse
Abuse those you see
See as less
Less than nothing
Nothing is what
What you discover
Discover within
Within your rotten
Rotten, shriveled heart
Heart hard as stone
Stone over graves
Graves of those
Those who died
Died in vain
Vain sacrifice
Sacrifice for what
What but ambition
Ambition of soulless
Soulless rich men
Men who don't care
Care for anything
Anything but money
Money to buy
Buy the best tomb
Tomb to commemorate
Commemorate their lives
Lives full of lies
Lies always bellowing
Bellowing forth
Forth from your mouth
Mouth always open
Open like a sewer
Sewer spewing waste
Waste of words
Words of deception
Deception of the masses
Masses left wanting
Wanting
Masses

Rest in Peace John McCain

August 29, 1936 - August 25, 2018

I didn't always agree with his politics, but I felt that he was a genuinely kind and noble soul. He was smart and compassionate, and he didn't back down from a fight. He didn't toe the party line, which sometimes earned him flak from other members of his party. He had grit. I liked him.
Rest in peace, good Sir.

Lord Dampnut and Omarosa: The Bloom is Off the Rose

Juan Williams: A man who was evidently abducted by aliens 40 years ago and only recently returned to Earth, as evidenced by his shock at Lord Dampnut's foul behavior

When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 14, 2018
How shocking that Pussy-Grabber 45 would refer to someone in a dehumanizing way. I'm so shocked.
Actually, I'm not shocked. You're not shocked. Nobody's shocked. Enough with the fake outrage. It doesn't take a damn psychic or political analyst to predict that a shitty person will behave in shitty ways, particularly when that shitty person is none other than Putin's lap dog, Lord Dampnut.
However, there is a certain platitude about rats jumping a sinking ship which seems appropriate to use here. When even Faux News is "shocked" by Lord Dampnut's behavior, it seems to me that the dumpster fire is getting higher.
Don't say I didn't warn you back when this schmuck was nominated that electing him would be a disaster.

When the High School Bully and the Fashion Club Chick are In Charge

Seriously, is Melania Trump sixteen and trying to defy her parents by refusing to wear those stuffy outfits that they put out for her? I kind of hope so, because it would really be embarrassing if a nearly fifty-year-old, high-profile representative of the United States Government were wearing a trashy coat that looks like she got it off the clearance rack at Hot Topic.

As for Lord Dampnut, never before has there been a President who had Twitter tantrums and launched into personal attacks every time someone said something potentially negative about him. He needs detention. For real, if this fake president ever ends up in jail where he belongs, I will celebrate big time.

The United States looks a little bit something like this to the rest of the world these days.
